For many Americans, the 4th of July presents a time to reflect on some of the great principles of their country's founding. But we would all do well also to remember another declaration of independence which came long before: Adam's rebellion in the Garden of Eden. This declaration did not liberate, but rather it enslaved the human race to sin and death. True freedom, on the other hand, may only be found through dependence, for the one whom the Son makes free is free indeed.
