God, through the Holy Spirit, warned Paul that he would be imprisoned if he went on to Jerusalem. And indeed, in Jerusalem Paul becomes a “prisoner for Christ Jesus.” As we come to the end of this remarkable book we see the story has come full circle; Paul is in Rome witnessing “to the ends of the earth” by the power of the Holy Spirit “with all boldness and without hindrance.” In the final analysis no matter how fascinating we find Peter or Paul, it is not the lives of these servants of God that is the focus of this book, it’s the expansion of the Gospel.
