Sanctification: God’s Work, Our Response
To be sanctified means to be set apart, to be made holy. Paul’s words in his letter to the Thessalonians are directly to this point: “For this is the will of God, your sanctification….” (I Thess. 4:3a). The concept of sanctification is found throughout the New Testament. While the redemption of believers in Jesus Christ has been secured by His death and applied by His Spirit, there remains a conflict, a struggle, a command to press forward.
Listen as Dennis Johnson and Derek Thomas examine the relationship of our ongoing sanctification to four aspects of the Christian life: faith, prayer, the Word of God, and service in the Church. How do each of these individually and all of them collectively factor into the New Testament doctrine of sanctification?
