Product Description
In the running of the Christian life, we can err by looking only at the past; this is sin, for it is a lack of faith in God’s future blessing. But we can also err by looking only at so distant a future that we miss the more immediate blessings that God has in store for us now.
C. Northcote Parkinson, in his humorous book Parkinson’s Law, claimed to have discovered a new disease called injelititis. He defined it as paralysis or induced inferiority. We can think of it as complacency or the absence of the urge to shoot high. Many Christians seem to have this disease. In this short devotional, Dr. Boice encourages us to consider the example of the Apostle Paul for our antidote, “This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14)
If we are really to engage in that great struggle for God’s best, we must also prepare for vigorous spiritual conflict. Our striving is not only against ourselves or circumstances but against the spiritual forces of this world that would seek to hinder us.
