James Innell (J.I.) Packer (1926-2020) was an evangelical theologian, speaker, educator, and writer. He was known for his best-selling book, Knowing God, as well as his work as an editor for the English Standard Version (ESV) of the Bible. Dr. Packer was one of the high-profile signers of the 1978 Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy and a member of the advisory board of the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. Ordained in the Anglican Church, Packer’s last teaching position was as the Board of Governors' Professor of Theology at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia.
